"Pecan shells, particularly in a densely populated area, serve as a habitat for the red beetle, which has become a growing concern for residents and businesses," the City of Socorro said. "This project is designed to benefit communities in the Lower Valley agricultural region, where homes and businesses have been overrun by invading beetles. By providing a dedicated drop-off location, El Paso County and the City of Socorro aim to mitigate the impact of these pests and maintain a cleaner, healthier environment for all residents."
The drop-off site is open to all residents of El Paso County.
This initiative is made possible through a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this drop-off location to ensure the proper disposal of pecan shells. ...read more read less
