LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A former administrative employee of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is accused of obtaining goods under false pretenses, according to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
Shekinah Shyann Sade Brown,
24, was arrested by SLED agents after she turned herself in Tuesday morning (April 1) at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s headquarters.
Brown is accused of alleged conduct related to fraudulent time sheets.
“When I became aware of Ms. Brown’s alleged conduct related to fraudulent time sheets, I referred the matter to SLED for an independent criminal investigation,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.
Brown, who worked as a chemist in the sheriff’s department’s laboratory resigned in October of 2024, according to Sheriff Koon.
She was hired by the department in March 2023.
“ There is an inherent trust that comes with working in the law enforcement profession. Everyone who works here is held to a high standard and must be held accountable to maintain our professionalism and the standing we have within our very supportive community,” continued Sheriff Koon.
She was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center on Tuesday morning, and released on a personal recognizance bond.
