Minot Mayor Tom Ross resigns, Jantzer named acting mayor

ND (KXNET) — Minot Mayor Tom Ross has resigned in the wake of an investigation into sexual harassment allegations against him.
The resignation is effective immediately.
Ross submitted his resignation to City Council President Mark Jantzer at around 1:30 p.m.
At a special meeting Tuesday a
fternoon, April 1, Minot City Council members appointed Jantzer as acting mayor. The council also voted unanimously to utilize the option of waiting 15 days and then appointing a current member of the council as the next mayor, rather than hold a special election.
The appointed person would fill the remainder of Ross’ four-year term, which expires in June 2026.
The council would then appoint someone to fill the empty council seat.
The council also officially accepted the final report on the investigation into an incident involving Ross.

The report focuses on an incident on January 14, 2025, in which Ross sent a text message with a sexually explicit video attached to a city employee.
The report was also made available to the public.
