FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- In light of recent federal workforce reductions, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) announced Tuesday that it launched a recruitment initiative for impacted employees. FCPD is offering a $15,000 hiring bonus for new police officers, including units s uch as K9, Investigations, Marine Patrol and more. The department also said it is hiring for professional staff positions in crime analysis, parking enforcement and investigative aids, among others. There are few details "Federal employees and other skilled professionals bring valuable expertise that aligns with the needs of the department, making them strong candidates for a variety of roles," FCPD wrote in a news release. Benefits available include competitive pay, leave benefits, paid family leave and retirement plans, as well as the hiring bonus for new police officers.
