As of Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in the are a is about $4.87 -- about 5 cents higher than Monday's average and 20 cents higher than a week ago, according to AAA. Ground order at San Diego International Airport causes delays, cancellations Prices for mid-grade and premium gas as well as diesel are also on the rise in San Diego, mirroring the spiking trend seen statewide and across the U.S. According to AAA, the average cost of a gallon of mid-grade gas is $5.04, up 17 cents from a week ago. Meanwhile, the cost for premium gas is now $5.23 compared to $5.05 last week. The average cost of a gallon of diesel is currently about the same as it was a week ago, although it experienced a slight drop within that time-frame. As of Tuesday, a gallon cost about $4.92 compared to $4.89 the day before. The average cost for a gallon of diesel a week ago was $4.91.
