HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Easter Bunny has made his way to the Holyoke Mall for photos and themed events through April 19th.
Easter is a Christian festivity that marks the resurrection of Jesus. It always falls on a Sunday during March or April. The first full moon that falls after the first da
y of spring (March 20th) determines the date that Easter falls.
This year, the first full moon after the spring equinox is called the Pink Moon, on Saturday, April 12th, and into Sunday, April 13th. This means that Easter Sunday this year will be on Sunday, April 20th.

Where did the Easter bunny come from?
So, how does the Easter Bunny relate to this holiday? The idea of an egg-giving rabbit is a symbol of Easter that originated among German Lutherans, according to Wikipedia. Similar to Santa Claus, the bunny would determine whether good or disobedient children would receive colored eggs, candy, and sometimes toys in its basket.
In Christianity, Easter eggs symbolize the tomb of Jesus, and eating them was prohibited during the fast of Lent. Once Lent concluded and the celebration of Easter Sunday, eggs were decorated as part of a custom in memory of the blood of Christ.
This year, the Holyoke Mall is hosting the Easter Bunny for those who want to visit and, or take photos with. Mr. Cottontail will be in his spring garden in Honor Court through April 19th located on the lower level near Hobby Lobby.
To take photos with the bunny, reservations are recommended by visiting HolyokeMall.com.
