The Inland girls athlete of the week: Name: Olivia Garate School: Murrieta Mesa Sport: Lacrosse Year: Junior Noteworthy: Garate scored 15 goals across three matches, helping the Rams pick up a pair of Southwestern League wins and another nonleague victory. Garate matched her career high by scoring s ix goals in a 14-1 league win over Temecula Valley. She scored six more goals in leading Murrieta Mesa to a 10-1 victory over crosstown rival Vista Murrieta. Garate capped the week with three goals in a 13-8 nonleague win over Los Alamitos. Murrieta Mesa (10-3) is currently ranked No. 9 in the CIF Southern Section’s power ratings. Garate leads the team with 46 goals this season and has scored 104 times over the past two seasons.
