PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) –A little more than three hours into accepting donations, 401Gives tops $1 million raised.
This makes the 2025 event one of the fastest to reach the million-dollar milestone.
According to organizers more than 3,600 donors have given to 546 different Rhode Island-based nonp
rofits. Among the organizations to receive the early generosity are Foster Forward at $74,190, East Bay Community Action Program at $63,181 and Audubon Society of RI with $43,836 raised. Community MusicWorks has also reached $40,000.
It has been a busy first few hours for 401Gives. At the start of the event, a $20,000 matching gift opportunity was presented by the Papitto Opportunity Connection was met in less than 10 seconds. At 8AM, four nonprofits received $500 each as part of a special prize drawing for organizations that engaged new donors with their work.
“There’s nothing more powerful than Rhode Islanders helping Rhode Islanders, and that’s what 401Gives is all about,” said Cortney Nicolato, president and CEO, United Way of RI.
401Gives is powered by United Way and led by the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact at United Way. The event helps support hundreds of organizations that provide vital services to local communities.
