(WAVY) - Publix now has a grand opening date for its newest Hampton Roads location, in Chesapeake. The Publix Super Market is located at 1620 Cedar Road. Previous: Publix to open store in Chesapeake A spokesperson for the supermarket chain first confirmed the plans to open a location in Chesapeake back in the summer of 2023. A grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 beginning at 7 a.m. “We are thrilled to continue our growth across Hampton Roads,” said Jared Glover, Publix media relations manager. “We look forward to delivering Publix’s legendary service and quality food as well as being active members in this great community.” The Publix at Market at Dominion Station will be 48,387 square feet. It will include a Publix Super Market and hire approximately 140 associates. There are several Publix stores in the Hampton Roads region now. A store in Carrollton at Bartlett Station just opened in January. A new location in Virginia Beach at Hickman Place opened late last year, just in time for holiday grocery shopping.
