State legislators are strategizing on how to rebrand the failed Amendment 2

State lawmakers say this week that they are already working on drafts of constitutional amendments to put on the ballot after voters rejected the proposals over the weekend, Louisiana Illuminator reports.
On Monday, Rep. Julie Emerson, R-Carencro, says her drafts would make some of the same budge
t and tax changes in the failed Amendment 2 from Saturday.
“I think you will definitely see some of this reborn in the session,” Emerson said in an interview, later adding, “I think it is just how we package it, and how many instruments we have with it.”
Any proposed amendments to be considered need to be filed quickly—the deadline to request legislative staff to write up new amendment legislation is noon Tuesday. The session starts April 14.
“We are all scrambling to get constitutional amendments redrafted again,” Emerson said.
