FORECAST: Breezy and cooler with sunshine for April Fools' Day
Mar 31, 2025
Although it is April Fools' Day, it's no joke that it is a much cooler and breezy start to our Tuesday.
Wind chills out there this morning are varying from the lower 30s to lower 40s, but at least we have the sunshine. Winds have picked up out of the northwest from 10-20 mph, gusts upwards of 30
mph at times.
These winds have picked up in the wake of yesterday's cold front that brought some strong to severe thunderstorms last night. This front has also ushered in the cool down that will settle in today and tomorrow. Highs today will only reach into the upper 50s to lower 60s, which is around a 25-degree difference from yesterday's highs in the lower to mid-80s.
Tonight, we'll have a few clouds with lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Wednesday starts off mainly sunny with increasing clouds through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will reach into the lower 60s, but it will still remain breezy with a shift in the wind direction to out of the SE, making it a little cooler for our coastal communities since the wind will be coming in off the colder waters.
Thursday brings the 80s back along with rain/storm chances. Highs on Thursday will reach into the lower 80s, but we'll have another cold front approaching. This holds off until Thursday evening, with storms holding off until later in the day. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed most of the region under a marginal risk for severe storms (1 out of 5 on the severe scale), while western MD and parts of WV are under a slight risk (2 out of 5). This same system will be impacting the Midwest tomorrow, so we'll continue to monitor.
The front that swings in Thursday evening, stalls over the region Friday, bringing more shower chances for the end of the week. Highs on Friday are still expected to climb into the mid to upper 70s.
The weekend will also hold in the 70s, but some showers still remain in the forecast both weekend days.
