HS Softball Wrap: Hopewell Valley makes winning start to season

HOPEWELL TWP. — The Hopewell Valley softball team got its season off to a successful start on Monday by storming back from a seven-run deficit to top Hamilton/Nottingham, 9-7.
Grace Senior led the Valley Girls with a 3-for-4 and Elizabeth Zelin drove in three runs; Aniya Merola and Jasmine Johann
also drove in two runs. Mikayla Umanski had two hits for the losers.

COLUMBUS — In a season opener for both teams, Hannah Derbyshire struck 11 as the Pirates won a battle between two of the top teams in Burlington County. Mia Zuccarelli led the winners with three hits and four RBIs.

BORDENTOWN. TWP. — The Scotties won a slugfest in their first game of the year. Katie Kovac and pitcher Katelin Hoppe each had two hits. Kovac and Julianna Morolda both tripled. Karisa Krawiec doubled twice for Township.
