MAXTON, N.C. (WBTW) — A second person has died after a house fire in Maxton last week that also killed a child, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said. Peggy Priest, the family's grandmother, died over the weekend, the SBI said. The fire happened at about 7:25 p.m. Thursday in th e 100 block of Marada Road. Child’s remains found after North Carolina house fire, SBI says Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home when they arrived. After the fire was extinguished, a child’s remains were found inside the residence, according to the SBI. The remains were sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
