HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico County mother remains in disbelief after her son was shot and killed Sunday morning in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom.
On Sunday, March 30, 29-year-old Shamar Trimmer of Henrico was found down on the ground with a gunshot wound in a parking lot in the 1800 block
of East Main Street, according to the Richmond Police Department.
Officers responded to the area at approximately 3:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a person shot.

Detectives told 8News they are investigating the possibility that an argument among multiple individuals resulted in Trimmer being shot.
8News spoke exclusively to Trimmer's mother, Mary Ramey-Trimmer of Henrico County. She said her son went by the name "Pea."
"Someone dared to shoot him -- they dared to shoot my child," Ramey-Trimmer said. "My precious child ... for a gun, or a girl, or for whatever reason they shot him."
Ramey-Trimmer told 8News that Pea was a sweet person and caring to everyone, whether they be family, a friend or a stranger.

During the early morning hours of March 30, Gemar Trimmer -- Pea's twin brother -- gave Ramy-Trimmer a call that Pea had been shot. He then picked up his mother and they headed to the hospital.
"They said, 'I got bad news' and I said, 'He's not dead ... he can't be dead, he can't be dead' -- but he was dead," Ramey-Trimmer said, in tears. "I should have protected my child. I should have said, 'Don't go to the city. You don't have any business in the city.'"
Ramey-Trimmer already had two biological children of her own before adopting the twins. She told 8News that Pea and Gemar were both were god-given.
"He [God] gave me Gemar and Shamar," she said. "It was a perfect fit for me and I love having them as my family. They are my family and they always will be my family." ...read more read less
