Mar 31, 2025
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Light rain has been consistent early Monday morning with showers expected to continue mainly over higher terrain through the afternoon.
The main upper low-pressure system is just off the Oregon coast and driving onshore flow and moisture as far south as San Diego. So far
, rainfall totals have ranged from a couple hundredths an inch of rain to a tenth for beaches and valleys with a third to half an inch of rain in our mountains.
Most of the rain as of noon is concentrated in the south county and will taper off into Tuesday. Cool, cloudy and windy weather will stick in the forecast with another round of light precipitation possible Thursday into Friday. Models for this next chance of wet weather have been trending drier recently so minimal impacts are expected.
Daytime highs for Tuesday will top out in the low 60s for the coast and inland valleys with upper 40s for the mountains and mid-70s in the desert.
Winds will be a strong weather factor Monday night into mid-week as the storm moves onshore to the north of us. Gusty westerly winds will impact all areas including the coast with the strongest winds expected in the mountains and deserts.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for mountains and deserts through late Tuesday night with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour possible.
As far as coastal impacts, high seas and surf are expected through Wednesday as well. West-facing beaches will get the highest surf with sets 7 to 10 feet. Watch out for strong rip currents. ...read more read less
