SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) -- A 15-year-old boy recently started classes at a new school after he survived a classroom stabbing at Elsie Allen High School.
"He feels weird being at a new school. But he has some friends," the victim's father, Jesse Trejo, told KRON4 on Monday.
Trejo said the new hi
gh school has been supportive and his family is looking forward to healing. "He is going to therapy. He's not able to use one hand," Trejo said.
Trejo's son had only been enrolled at Elsie Allen for two weeks before he was stabbed three times by a classmate wielding a black folding knife on February 25. A staff member and a teacher broke up the altercation.

The Elsie Allen student behind the stabbing was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on attempted murder charges, police said. Trejo's son underwent multiple surgeries in Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and in a children’s hospital in Oakland.
Trejo said the ordeal has been difficult on his whole family. His daughter "thought her brother was going to die," he said.
As the boy continues recovering from his injuries, the teen is feeling frustrated because he can't compete in soccer or ride his family's horse, his father said.
This week, the boy is continuing his education by attending a different high school in Santa Rosa. Trejo did not name the new school to give his son some privacy after a very public incident.
Elsie Allen High School's principal, Gabe Albavera, was removed from his position after two stabbings happened on campus this school year. In August, a 14-year-old boy stabbed a 13-year-old boy in the quad.
Elizabeth Gordon-Stroll is serving as the school's principal for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing an environment where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive," Santa Rosa City Schools district officials wrote. ...read more read less
