WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Voters in Mulvane and Haysville are gearing up to vote on multi-million dollar school bonds. Early in-person voting on bond issues for both districts begins Tuesday. KSN breaks down what voters need to know before casting their ballot.
Both school districts say they need to
make infrastructure improvements.
The Mulvane school district has two proposed bonds up for a vote.
The first question concerns a $50.39 million bond for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems improvements, safety and security measures, and renovations at the middle school. If passed, people who own a home worth $100,000 will pay an extra $8.15 in taxes per month, which is a little less than $100 a year.

The second question concerns a $9.28 million bond to build an early childhood center. If the second bond passes, it would cost the same homeowner about $3 more per month, or a little over $36 a year. The second question can only pass if question one also passes.
In the Haysville school district, voters are considering a $79.725 million bond to fund HVAC and security upgrades and building maintenance. The bond would also fund a new Career and Technology Education Center at Campus High School. If passed, the district says this will not increase the mill levy.
Early in-person voting starts April 1 at the election office in downtown Wichita. Election day is April 8. You can find your polling location here. ...read more read less
