Springfield man charged after deadly hitandrun on Parker Street

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield man has been charged in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a cyclist on Parker Street.
According to the Hampden District Attorney's Office, 46-year-old Carlos Reyes of Springfield was arraigned Monday afternoon in Springfield District Court.

eyes was arraigned on a charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in death. He is currently held on $250,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on April 29.
Bicyclist killed after hit and run crash in Springfield
The charges stem from an incident that occurred last Thursday at the intersection of Parker Street and Verge Street. According to Springfield Police, a vehicle struck 30-year-old Aronde Odom, who was walking his bicycle across the street at the time.
Responding officers located Odom on the ground with deadly injuries, and found a vehicle nearby with a bicycle tire lodged under the driver's side. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene before authorities arrived.
On Friday, Reyes turned himself in at the Springfield Police Department. At the time of his surrender, police discovered that he had an active warrant out of Palmer District Court. He was taken into custody and charged in connection with Thursday's crash.
The case is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department's Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the Hampden DA's Office. Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni has offered condolences to the victim's loved ones.
