NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - While temperatures typically warm drastically in the spring, that also means more chances for severe weather.
Places in the mid-Atlantic have storm threats on Monday. We're trading snow storms and icy roads for thunderstorms and street flooding. While your approach to
this situation should be similar, what you need is different.
April sees an increase in rain and thunderstorms temperatures rapidly increase and snow showers are minimal if at all apparent. Warming temperatures have led to more instances of heavy downpours according to data from the NOAA.
22News spoke with one Northampton resident who said that recent rain has been more than usual.
"Probably this is the first one or maybe the worst. it rains I remember it has rained a couple of times but this one is like a little bit too much," said Ebenezi Asabre.
March saw above-average rain and almost no snow according to Westover Air Reserve Base. The best supplies to keep handy are sump pumps, a wet and dry vacuum, as well as general emergency supplies in waterproof storage. Always remember never to drive through flooded roadways as it's almost impossible to determine the depth of standing water.
