Park City police blotter: Lodging guest ‘mean to the staff’

The Park City Police Department in March received an unusual report involving a guest at a lodging property that prompted staff to seek a law enforcement presence as the person collected their luggage.The case was reported on Sidewinder Drive at 4:21 p.m. on March 24. The police were told the guest
left their luggage and “has been mean to the staff,” according to public police logs. The property could not “allow them to cross the threshold,” the police were told. The department classified the case as a keep the peace response rather than a suspected criminal matter.Other incidents reported to the Police Department recently included:On Sunday, March 30, at 4:07 p.m., the police received a report of “a bunch of ski gear” in an intersection in the area of Park Avenue and Empire Avenue. The police indicated the unspecified equipment created a traffic hazard.An issue involving two drivers on westbound U.S. 40 was reported at 4 p.m. The police were told one driver was reckless and would not allow the person who contacted the police to pass. The driver was also “taunting” the person, the police were told.The Police Department was informed around 12:37 a.m. of a suspected drug case on Main Street. A man was in a bathroom and was in possession of unspecified drugs, according to department logs. Security personnel detained the person by the time of the call to the police. Public police logs did not provide details.On Saturday, March 29, at 10:03 p.m., someone contacted the police from the China Bridge garage indicating they only had cash to pay for parking. A parking machine did not take cash, the police were told, and the person did not “know what to do,” according to department logs.A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported at 4:52 p.m. on Main Street. A couple was out for dinner when the damage occurred. The police were told a note from bystanders was left on the vehicle’s windshield.On Friday, March 28, at 6:04 p.m., a vehicle reportedly was left outside the Park City Library in a manner that it occupied six parking spaces. The police were told it was a recreational vehicle with an attached Jeep.A rock, described as being comparable in size to a bread loaf, was reported to be in the middle of Marsac Avenue close to the Marsac Building. The police described the rock as creating a traffic hazard.Two violations of the drop-and-load rules on main Street were reported within 15 minutes of each other in the 5 p.m. hour. Public police logs did not provide details about whether tickets or warnings were issued.Needles, described as “used,” were reported on Heber Avenue at 11:12 a.m. They were “on the ground going into” a commercial garage, the police were told. The police described the circumstances as suspicious.On Thursday, March 27, at 9:16 p.m., a man was reported at a Main Street bar who was initially not causing issues. The bar “cut off his drinking” and “now he is bothering some of the customers,” the police were told. The Police Department described the case as a business assist rather than a suspected criminal matter.A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported at 8:01 a.m. on Deer Valley Drive. The police were told the damage occurred while the vehicle was in a parking lot and the person who contacted the agency apparently had the license plate of the other vehicle.The police at 5:16 a.m. received a report from Park Avenue about a delivery that made the person who contacted the department “very upset.” The person told the police “he is not supposed to be there until” 7:30 a.m.On Wednesday, March 26, at 2:10 p.m., someone reported someone attempted to “take the charger out and the EV Cord” while a vehicle powered by electricity was at a charging station on Little Kate Road. The police described the case as a citizen assist rather than a suspected criminal matter.On Tuesday, March 25, at 7:33 p.m. a ski rack was reportedly broken at a bus stop on Park Avenue. The police logged the case as suspected criminal mischief.A bus reportedly did not stop at a brake check area on Marsac Avenue at 6:17 p.m. The police attempted to locate the vehicle, but department logs did not provide details.On Monday, March 24, at 1:14 p.m, a vandalism case was reported at City Park.
