RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Two-time GRAMMY award-winning singer Melissa Etheridge is set to perform this Spring in Richmond. Ahead of her tour, she sat down with 8News for a one-on-one interview.
Etheridge has been taking the stage at venues across the world for more than three decades. 8News wanted t
o hear all about her music, her touring experience and what her fans can expect in the near future.
She said her favorite song to perform is “Like The Way I Do," because she can never follow it up. Etheridge said it's the last song she plays every show.
"It was the first requested song I ever had of my own and it never lets me down," she said. "No matter where I am, no matter what country city I play, no matter how the audience is -- maybe they sat all night, [but] they will always stand and go crazy for that song. So it's my favorite."

As for the best part about touring, Etheridge told 8News that it's about the places and people.
"I get to go all these wonderful places, I get to see people, I get to reach people that would never be able to see me otherwise -- I get to go to different countries," she said.
She's got dozens of her own songs, but who would she want to make a song with? Chris Stapleton is at the top of the list of artists she'd love to collaborate with.
"There's a lot of people I'd love to just collaborate with," Etheridge said. "Chris Stapleton, I think, is one of the most soulful singers right now, out there."
When asked about what music she's listening to, Etheridge said she was working on a new album all last month, so she hasn't listened to anything but the music she's been making.

"They can expect to want to sing along," Etheridge said of that album. "They can expect to be moved on all different emotional levels. They can expect to be filled with hope and joy, love and fun -- and some deep, deep emotional reaching."
Etheridge will be performing at the Dominion Energy Center’s Carpenter Theatre on April 14. Tickets can be purchased here. ...read more read less
