RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Two baby goats have arrived at Maymont Farm in Richmond -- just in time for spring break.
According to Maymont, the new arrivals are 3 to 4-month-old female Tennessee goats named Tiger Lily and Larkspur. They were born this winter, are fully weaned and arrived at Maymont on
Monday, March 31.
They are visiting to help Maymont educators teach guests about farm animal life cycles.
“We love having baby goats at Maymont Farm – their playfulness is infectious!” said Parke Richeson, Maymont President and CEO. “The diversity of animals at Maymont Farm gives members of our urban community a chance to experience farm life.”

Officials said that the baby goats will be a highlight of Spring Break this week. The goats will also be available for viewing during Dominion Energy Family Easter on Saturday, April 19.
“The baby goats help Maymont educators teach lessons about the seasonality of animal life cycles on domestic farms,” said Krista Weatherford, director of Programming and Community Engagement at Maymont. “As social animals, domesticated goats prefer to live in groups, so these youngsters will feel right at home surrounded by our other farm animals.”
Aside from the goats, the Maymont Farm also welcomes horses, cows, sheep, alpacas, pigs, chickens, ducks and a Sicilian donkey. It cares for 300 animals of over 85 different species.
Maymont grounds are open for free from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with a $5 suggested donation.
Anyone interested in helping feed and care for the two new arrivals is encouraged to donate to the Adopt an Animal program. ...read more read less
