MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 36-year-old inmate at the Shelby County Jail is dead after he was found unresponsive Sunday, the sheriff's office said.
Courtney Berry was found in a restroom around 9 a.m. Lifesaving measures were given, and he was taken in critical condition to Regional One, where he was pr
onounced dead.

The sheriff's office said a pre-existing medical condition may have played a role in his death. The cause will be determined by the medical examiner. The sheriff's office is investigating.
Berry was booked Feb. 21, and was being held without bond after the state filed to revoke a suspended sentence. Berry was convicted of attempting to possess a firearm while being a convicted felon.
