Advocates turn Statehouse pink for breast cancer
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Statehouse turned pink today as Hoosier breast cancer advocates hosted the first-ever pink out day to raise awareness for breast cancer.
The event brought together survivors, advocates, and supporters to unit
e in the fight against breast cancer, which remains the most common cancer in Indiana and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the state.
“Things that I learned through my own journey, also helping women with their journey, is to ensure to have a voice, to make sure that we’re asking for resources and help to kind of navigate this disease that none of us signed up for,” President of Pink4Ever Nadia Miller said.
Attendees at the event heard speeches from leaders, survivors, and researchers, emphasizing the importance of having a voice and seeking resources in the fight against breast cancer.
Organizers highlighted the need for prevention efforts and ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has access to the necessary resources to combat the disease.
