(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — A 32-year-old man has been arrested on a parole violation for homicide after the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) said he was spotted by deputies at an adult gaming business.
According to PCSO, the arrest was made possible by the FBI's Southern Colorado Safe Street
s Task Force's list of Most Wanted Criminals, which provided the deputies with a likeness of the suspect and allowed them to recognize him in public.
PCSO said deputies were patrolling the area of Battle Ground Skillled Gaming on Santa Fe Drive in Blende early Monday morning, March 31, when they saw a man resembling 32-year-old Gilbert Ballejos, who they had seen on the FBI's most wanted list. PCSO said Ballejos was wanted on a parole violation warrant for second-degree homicide and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
During a routine pat search, PCSO said deputies found just over 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his pocket. Bellejos is facing new charges of possession of a controlled substance in addition to his warrant from the Department of Corrections. Ballejos was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

“This was great awareness and police work by the deputies who were able to identify this wanted felon, formulate a plan and then take him into custody without any issues,” said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero. “I commend the deputies for their work in getting this previous offender who should not have been out on our streets into custody. Arrests like this help make our community a better and safer place.” ...read more read less
