BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A man was sentenced to additional time in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a correctional officer in prison. Oshea Mann, 32, was sentenced to eight years in prison on March 28. A Kern County jury found Mann guilty of battery on a correctional officer on March 3. Inmate serving life sentence for murder attacked, killed at Kern Valley State Prison The court later found true that Mann had been previously convicted of battery with serious bodily injury, the DA’s Office said. Mann was an inmate at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano. On March 15, 2019, correctional officers escorted Mann to a medical clinic at the prison and he was seated in a chair in the hallway to wait for his treatment, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office. Afterwards, Mann jumped up and struck a correctional officer on the left side of his face with his head, causing an injury near the officer’s left eye, the DA’s Office said.
