Coroner ID's woman struck, killed by vehicle on Union Avenue near White Lane

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene then returned on Saturday night.
According to officials with the coroner's office, Lisa Ann Jones, 58, was a pedestrian in the area of South Union Ave
nue and White Lane when she was struck by a vehicle around 10:40 p.m.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol said the vehicle involved in the crash initially fled, but then returned. The driver contacted authorities.
Investigation showed Jones was walking westbound across southbound South Union Avenue near White Lane, outside of the crosswalk.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2025 Lexus IS 350F southbound on Union Avenue at about 44 mph approaching the pedestrian.
Officials said Jones traveled directly into the path of the vehicle. The 17-year-old was unable to take "evasive action" and struck Jones.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation, according to officials. Alcohol and drugs are not factors in the crash for the driver.
It is not immediately known if drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash for the pedestrian, according to officials with the highway patrol.
