Delano, Wasco Branch libraries to temporarily close for renovations

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – The Delano and Wasco Branch libraries will temporarily close to undergo renovations, according to a release by the Kern County Library.
The Delano Branch Library will close from April 16 to Jan. 20, while the Wasco Branch Library will close from April 21 to Nov. 2,
the Kern County Library said.
Kern County Library Wilson branch reopens with upgrades for educational programs
The California State Library awarded the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant to provide “safer, more modern spaces” for the community, according to the release.
The Delano Branch Library received $483,839 and the Wasco Branch Library received $438,549, according to the Kern County Library. The grant money will be used to upgrade essential facilities, which includes improvements to safety and infrastructure, as well as modernized features.

According to the Kern County Library, the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant is a statewide effort aiming to address urgent maintenance and safety needs in California’s public libraries.
The program invested $439 million in California’s 2021-2022 fiscal year, making it the single largest investment in the state’s public libraries, according to the California State Library website.
