Wanda Lunning, 78
Wanda Eileen Lunning, age 78, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center, Mankato, Minnesota. Wanda was born on February 13, 1947, to Howard and Violet (Hayes) Corbin in Mason City, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Mason C
ity High School and went on to continue her education at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea. Wanda then began a 25-year career at Riverland Community College in the Financial Aid department. On December 16, 1966, Wanda married the love of her life Darrell Lunning in Mason City, and they were blessed with 2 children. They began their life on Darrel’s family farm and moved to Austin in 1986. She was a big supporter of the DFL and AFSCME. She loved to knit and had begun teaching her great granddaughter how to knit. She enjoyed gadgets and playing computer games, watching Soap Operas. Wanda loved spending time with her family, enjoyed cooking family dinner and was especially fond of all the memories she was able to make with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Darrell Lunning of Austin; son, Geoffrey (Jolene) Lunning of Austin; grandsons, Michael “MT” Hanson, Jacob (Taylor) Backen, and Kyle (Jade Meyers) Morrison; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Allarik, and Anola; sister, Marian Wood; sisters-in-law, Denise (Doug) Rogers and Debra (Scott) Loge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Violet Corbin; daughter, Stacey Lunning; sister, Janice Parrish; and brother-in-law, Roy Wood.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
