Teen boys arrested for armed robbery at Porterville High

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two boys were arrested for an alleged armed robbery on campus at Porterville High School on Friday, according to the Porterville Police Department.
Police say that around 4 p.m., Porterville Police School Resource Officers responded to Porterville High School r
egarding an armed robbery that occurred on the campus around 7:54 a.m.
School staff said that a student was walking through the campus when they were approached by two boys, 17 and 16 years old, who attend a different high school.
One of the boys brandished a knife and demanded the victim give him his necklace and other personal items.
The victim handed the items to the suspects, who then left the area.
Investigators say the school resource officers were able to identify both of the suspects positively.
One of the juvenile suspects is a known member of a criminal street gang, has a significant criminal record, and is currently on probation for theft and resisting arrest, police say.
On Saturday, detectives with the Porterville Police Department's Special Investigations Unit took over the investigation.
Detectives say they obtained arrest warrants for both boys and search warrants for their respective residences.
Around 5:30 p.m., detectives say they responded to a home in the 700 block of South Roche Street, where they contacted one of the suspects and took him into custody without incident.
During the search, detectives say they located evidence of the crime.
Detectives then responded to a home in the 100 block of West Date Avenue, where they took the second boy into custody without incident. A search warrant was served at the home, where additional evidence was found.
Both teens were transported to the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility, where they were booked. ...read more read less
