AFTER SCHOOL
The Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute offers a FREE aft
er-school program for DC kids, providing a unique blend of martial arts, culture, and leadership development. Running Monday through Thursday from 4:15-6 pm during the school year, this program is open to kids ages 6 to 18. More than just an after-school activity, it’s a space where kids can grow, connect, and be inspired. Participants will:
* Train in Kung Fu forms to build strength, discipline, and confidence.
* Learn Dragon and Lion Dancing, fostering teamwork and cultural appreciation.
* Practice African Drumming, enhancing rhythm and coordination.
* Develop leadership skills in a supportive community of peers.
SUMMER CAMP
This summer, kids can build confidence, discipline, and leadership skills through the art of Kung Fu at the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute! Running from June 23 to August 1, Monday–Friday, 9am – 5pm, the program offers kids ages 6 to 18 the chance to learn martial arts and more. Best of all, this incredible camp is FREE for DC residents! Participants will not only learn various Kung Fu forms, they’ll also immerse themselves in a variety of cultural and artistic activities, including:
* Dragon and Lion Dances – Discover the rhythmic world of performance arts.
* African Drumming – Connect with powerful beats and rhythms that build coordination and teamwork.
* Mandarin Language – Gain an introduction to Mandarin, enhancing cultural understanding and cognitive skills.
* Field Trips – Enriching excursions to museums and other sites will deepen students’ appreciation for history, art, and leadership.
