CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - One of President Trump's main goals since taking office two months ago has been tariffs. He says more are coming this week.  Trump says he’s considering ways to serve a third term President Trump has already placed tariffs on multiple countries, creating the beginnings of trade wars, but he doesn't seem to be stopping there. This past Wednesday, President Trump announced new 25 percent tariffs on foreign-made vehicles and parts that he said will go into effect on April 2, just two days away, on what he has dubbed "Liberation Day." Further, these tariffs will include all nations. His goal through all of these tariffs is to bring manufacturing back onto U.S. soil, as well as protect the domestic economy from unfair global competition, he's saying America has been ripped off because it imports more goods than it exports. In the instance of the manufacturing of vehicles, critics say it could slow down international supply chains. Just like a few of the other tariffs the President has said he will place, there is still the possibility they are delayed or short-lived if he feels like they could reach a deal saying "certainly open to it, if we can do something." It all started with Mexico, Canada and China. The first set of tariffs was set to take effect on February 4th, with 25% tariffs for both Canada and Mexico. Unless they provided more border security and aid in the drug crisis across the borders, those tariffs were delayed a month and took effect on March 4th. For China, a 10% tariff took effect on all Chinese imports on February 4th and then increased to 20% a month later. China retaliated with its own tariffs ranging from 10 to 15% on a range of products. On March 12th, the Trump administration imposed a tariff on all global imports of steel and aluminum, to which the European Union announced retaliatory tariffs.
