Woonsocket police arrest two in weekend stabbing incident

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Woonsocket police have arrested two teenage suspects in connection to a Sunday stabbing incident that occurred during a larger altercation between two groups of young adults and juveniles.
According to Woonsocket police, a 17-year-old male has been charged with felony as
sault and battery and has been remanded to the RI Training School.
The investigation began after a 19-year-old male arrived at Landmark Medical Center for treatment of a stab wound Sunday.
The victim was not able to communicate or give officers details of the incident.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for trauma care.
Detectives and officers learned through their investigation that a motor vehicle accident occurred on Elm Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. Sunday, and the larger altercation stemmed from the crash.
In addition to the stabbing suspect, police arrested Ryan Sykes, 19, for obstruction in the investigation.
The stabbing victim is in stable condition, according to Woonsocket police.
