BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — North Dakotans who've been around for a while know spring isn't truly here until the final snowstorm of the winter season — and that usually comes around the last week of March or the first week of April.
And, sure enough, here it comes...
"It looks like the chances
of a winter storm are increasing across portions of the KX viewing area," says KX Meteorologist Andre Brooks.
A low pressure system in the west will be moving through North Dakota, bringing with it chances of snow and snow accumulations late Monday through Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for 7:00 a.m. Tuesday through 1:00 a.m. Thursday for areas south and east of Bismarck, with Bismarck and Burleigh County marking the western end of the watch area.
Snow may fall Tuesday morning, let up for a bit and then likely resume Tuesday night. Going into the early morning hours on Wednesday, "the snow is just going to persist in our area, so this is potentially going to be a big system," says Brooks.
Come Wednesday afternoon, conditions will significantly improve.
For much of the KX viewing area, including Bismarck and Mandan, there's a good chance for at least two inches of snow Monday night into Wednesday, possibly up to four inches.
Also, winds will be gusty Monday through Wednesday, ranging for 20 to 40 miles per hour in the KX viewing area.
