VCUarts associate professor to host lecture at Institute of Contemporary Art at VCU

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) arts associate professor Tobias Wofford will host a lecture at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at VCU on Tuesday about artworks on view at an exhibit within the Smithsonian American Arts Museum in Washington, D.C.

:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, Wofford will share reflections on works of art within "The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture," which is currently on view at the Smithsonian American Arts Museum.
According to the university, the exhibit in D.C. brings together 82 sculptures created between 1792 and 2023, ranging in size from small coins to large statues created from many forms of media. Works were created by 70 different artists.
Wofford is an associate professor of art history, according to VCU, and his research explores the globalization and identity in the art of the American Diaspora since the 1950s, in addition to diversity and multiculturalism in the art of the U.S.
