Severe thunderstorms swept across Kentucky Sunday night and early Monday morning leaving thousands without power. Wind and hail damage was reported in our area. Another chance of showers returns Monday mid-morning, as a cold front continues to push east. This afternoon will be mostly quiet with
clouds starting to clear out and temperatures near 60°. Overnight skies will clear and winds will shift to northerly flow allowing for a big dip in temperatures. We will wake up Tuesday morning to the mid 30s.
Tuesday will be our only quiet day this week with highs around average (61°) and lows on the mild side in the upper 40s.
Another round of severe weather is possible Wednesday into Thursday evening, with the main threat overnight Wednesday. Central and eastern Kentucky is under a level 3 risk Wednesday night as damaging winds, hail and tornadoes are possible. The front stalls over the area giving us a wet end to the week. We could see upwards of 6 inches of rain in parts of central and eastern Kentucky leading to flash flood risks through the weekend.
Expect highs at or above average this week, but big changes on the way next week with temperatures plunging and looking more like winter weather
