Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Cleveland State in Women’s NIT Great 8

The face the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons will host the Cleveland State Vikings in the Women’s NIT Great 8 on Monday night, with the winner moving on to the Fab 4.
The Mastodons and Vikings will clash at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne at 7 p.m.
Purdue Fort Wayne secured a spot in the G
reat 8 with an 87-61 win over Butler University, and Cleveland State advanced with a 55-52 victory over Duquesne.
PFW enters the game with a 20-3 record against Horizon League opponents, while Cleveland State holds a 15-7 record within the same conference.
In their last meeting on March 10, Amellia Bromenschenkel scored 23 points, leading Purdue Fort Wayne to a dominant 83-65 win over Cleveland State. This game will be the fourth time the teams meet this season.
PFW has scored 87 points and allowed 61 points in both WNIT games this postseason.. Amellia Bromenschenkel averages 19.5 points, and Audra Emmerson adds 17.5 points per game.
Lauren Ross leads the Mastodons’ offense, averaging 15.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Sara Guerreiro is tops among Vikings players with 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
With a win, Purdue Fort Wayne will play Buffalo in the Fab 4. A win in that game would mean a berth to the Women’s NIT championship game on Saturday, April 5.
