SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A helicopter nearly landed on a major interstate that runs through San Diego County when its engine failed Sunday afternoon.
It was a close call and traffic was backed up after a helicopter landed on a road that runs along Interstate 15 in northern San Diego County. I-1

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers and deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to the emergency helicopter landing at 2:20 p.m. Sunday.
CHP reports the helicopter's engine failed, forcing the pilot to land on N Centre City Parkway where it meets with Jesmond Dene Road in unincorporated Escondido.
