Over 600 people participate in Red Shoe 5K for charity

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- On the morning of March 30 over 600 people participated in the Red Shoe 5K at the Ala Moana Center, a celebration presented by Kaiser Permanente to that raised over $44,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Hawaii.
Participants were able to take a 3.1-mile walk around the sh
opping center, with the leader of the walk being NFL quarterback Marcus Mariota, with KHON2's own Jill Kuramoto and Howard Dashefsky emceeing the event.

All proceeds from the walk directly benefit RMHC Hawaii, which provides housing for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment on Oahu in a "comfortable home-away-from-home."

"We are incredibly grateful for the community's continued support of the Red Shoe 5K," said Ed Nishioka, president and CEO of RMHC Hawaii. "This event is crucial in sustaining our essential services and ensuring families have a nurturing and supportive environment during challenging times."
The walk through the center provided participants to experience an iconic Hawaii landmark in a unique way. Tenants at Ala Moana such as Big Island Candies, Jamba Juice and more also provided the participants with special giveaways and refreshments.
