Three teens taken into custody after fights break out at Pentagon City mall

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) -- Three teens were taken into custody after multiple fights broke out at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, prompting the mall's closure on Saturday night, Arlington police said.

ll in the 1100 block of S. Hayes St. just after 7 p.m. for the report of multiple fights.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a huge crowd in the food court and multiple fights taking place simultaneously.

More officers were requested to the scene to help get control of the crowd and the fights; however, police said the crowd remained "disorderly," and the fights continued, creating an unsafe environment for officers and guests.

Police said that during the commotion, a 13-year-old girl ignored officers' commands, pushed an officer and resisted attempts to detain her. Two additional officers helped take the girl into custody as she continued to struggle.
A 15-year-old girl allegedly assaulted a store employee. While police tried to take her into custody, she assaulted an officer and a mall security guard, according to ACPD.
The third suspect, a 14-year-old boy, assaulted an officer and resisted arrest, according to police. When officers took him into custody, they reported finding a knife on him.
Due to the unsafe conditions, police closed the mall and evacuated guests. Responding officers, mall security, and a store employee sustained minor injuries.

The mall reopened as scheduled on Sunday. However, ACPD said officers were conducting increased patrols in the area.
Authorities have filed petitions for the 13-year-old girl for riot and assault on police.
A petition has been filed for the 15-year-old girl for assault on police, two counts of assault and battery, injury to a person in a riot, and obstruction of justice.
Both teens were treated for minor injuries.
A petition is filed for the 14-year-old boy for assault on police, riot while carrying a weapon, and trespassing.
