Tabassam Javed, the former president of the Islamic Center of Rochester and current board member said attendees, "At the Center, we can only hold up to 1,000 people for prayer, and today the number of people who came is more like 2 to 3 thousand, so we did three services for everybody to be able to attend."

"Like people who go to church together sometimes, they have such an affinity for each other because they happen to be at a place of worship," Jeved said. "Similarly, the connection that is made here is very valuable to people and also reaffirms their identity as a Muslim. That is one thing that they really gain from this get together in which they get to see people they are around in the community and in the larger Rochester area." He said.
