3 men with prior theft charges arrested for shoplifting at grocery store

(KRON) – The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men with prior theft charges for shoplifting at a Half Moon Bay grocery store.
Deputies responded to a Safeway on North Cabrillo Highway and were informed that two suspects stole multiple items and fled the store in an SUV. The
vehicle, according to witnesses, fled southbound.
Authorities said deputies later found the suspect’s SUV and pulled the car over. Two of the four people in the SUV had stolen merchandise, deputies said. Narcotics paraphernalia was also found the in car.
Deputies later discovered three passengers had warrants for their arrest. Authorities arrested 36-year-old Joshua P. Taylor, 39-year-old Anthony S. Stone and 34-year-old Michael T. Lelis.

Taylor, according to the sheriff’s office, had a bench warrant for prior drug and theft charges. Stone was arrested for shoplifting, possessing narcotics paraphernalia and had warrants for contempt of court and a probation violation. He also had prior theft convictions. Lelis was arrested for shoplifting, lying about his identity, and warrants related to narcotics and theft charges.
The driver, who was a woman, was identified and released.
