Mayor Will Reichelt announced that the DPW will be replacing a water pressure control valve at the intersection, with work commencing Monday. The water control valve currently in place is one of four in the southeast section of West Springfield responsible for reducing water pressure, and was installed in the 1950s.
Reichelt said that due to the valve's age, the Kings Highway Control Valve Project is crucial to keep water flowing for the community.

Work will be underway between March 31 and April 25, during which time traffic detours will be in place. Drivers will be expected to take alternate routes, and local traffic will be permitted to navigate the area with the assistance of detail officers on-site.
The DPW said that signs will be posted in the work zone to guide travelers.
