AFR investigate fire, vandalism at Republican Party of New Mexico HQ

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) is investigating a fire at the Republican Party of New Mexico's headquarters on Sunday. According to AFR, crews were sent to the building near Jefferson and San Francisco just before 6:00 a.m.
Crews were able to contain the fire within f
ive minutes, with the building suffering damage at the front entrance, along with smoke damage throughout the inside. Spray paint comparing ICE to the Ku Klux Klan was also found on the building.

The Republican Party of New Mexico is claiming the cause of fire was arson. AFR says they are still investigating. "It's very early in the investigation. I know they are reviewing our camera footage and neighboring camera footage as well," says Amy Barela, chairwoman for the Republican Party of New Mexico.
