NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Members of New Orleans' Vietnamese American community gathered on Sunday, March 30, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon and to honor Vietnam War veterans.
The event was held at the Hung Kings Shrine and included speeches, cultural performances and tributes to
veterans from the United States and South Vietnam.

The event also celebrated the legacy of the Hung Kings, the founders of Vietnam.
Sunday's ceremony brought together community members, religious leaders, veterans and students to honor the resilience and courage of those who served.

"Well, you know, we think this is extremely important because with us, the Vietnamese community, being here for 50 years, we feel like were very isolated especially being out in the East. A lot of the general public doesn't really know a lot about us. So, this year, were trying to organize a lot of activities so we can introduce our culture, not only for the general public but also for our young Vietnamese as well, because we really want to maintain the culture," said Cam-Thanh Tran with the Vietnam Community of Louisiana.
