Thank you all again for your love and support of our agency and thank you to the Lord above for watching over my Deputies as they did their duty."
Prior to the shooting in Carroll County, Johnson was reportedly involved in a shooting in Greensboro.
Around 1:44 p.m. on Friday, Greensboro officers, Greensboro firefighters and Guilford County EMS were sent to a reported shooting on I-85 South near mile marker 131.
Police say the incident involved drivers of two tractor-trailers, including Johnson. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Johnson reportedly fled north to Virginia, prompting Greensboro police to contact the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and inform them that the suspect was potentially at a truck stop in the Carroll County area.
Greensboro police said in a statement, "The Greensboro Police Department is grateful for our dedicated partners in law enforcement who put their lives on the line to protect and serve. We extend our heartfelt support to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and our prayers for a full recovery for both injured deputies."
