Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a toddler who was found not breathing Saturday night in Lakeside, officials said. Deputies and paramedics from the Lakeside Fire Department responded to the emergency call at a home on Camino Del Tierra off Pinehurst Drive shortly after 8:50 p.m. First responders performed life-saving measures on the toddler, but the child later died at the hospital, Lt. Patrick Fox said in a news release. No information about what led up to the incident was released. “Detectives are diligently gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and examining the circumstances surrounding this death,” he said. The investigation is ongoing. Fox said the medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death. No other details were released.
