FORECAST: Mostly cloudy day with highs back in the 80s
Mar 30, 2025
Happy Sunday, DMV! Another warm and cloudy day is in store for the area. Highs today are expected to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Winds this afternoon will be breezy again shifting out of the southwest gusting between 15-20 mph. Isolated showers will be possible mainly off to the north and the
west, but much of the day does look to stay dry.
Tonight, under mostly cloudy skies, a stray shower will be possible. Lows tonight will be on the mild side, dipping into the 60s. It will be a warm and dry start to the day tomorrow with morning lows in the 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Make sure to stay weather-aware as we head through your Monday. A very strong cold front will roll through the area producing scattered storms. Some of the storms will be on the stronger to severe side. Timing as of now does not look ideal as storms will likely be popping up Monday afternoon. The western counties could see storms arrive around 2-3 p.m. and won't move into the Beltway until closer to 5-6 p.m. This will make traveling home from work tomorrow a bit tricky. You may want to take it slow tomorrow evening. Highs tomorrow afternoon will be on the cooler side struggling to get out of the 70s.
The Storm Prediction Center has most of the area under a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather, and central Virginia under an enhanced risk (3 out of 5) for severe side. The main threat is damaging winds, with the possibility of a spin-up tornado further south. Heavy downpours as well as small hail can not be ruled out.
We start to dry things out on Tuesday and Wednesday with a mix of sun and clouds returning to the area. Tuesday will be the coolest day out of the work week as highs will struggle to get out of the 50s. Breezy northwesterly winds will usher in cooler air through much of the day Tuesday. A slight warm-up is expected Wednesday afternoon as highs will reach into the 60s. Towards the end of the week, another storm system will move through the DMV providing us with more soggy conditions.
