JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man accused of leading law enforcement in a chase in Callaway County and running away from Jefferson City Police last week has been charged with a pair of felonies.
Dillon Johnson, 33, of Jefferson City was charged Friday with possession of a controlled substance
and interfering with arrest for a felony, online court records show. He was arrested a little after 5 p.m. Wednesday after a foot chase in Jefferson City.
According to a probable cause statement, Jefferson City Police responded to the 1700 block of East Miller Street a little before 3 p.m. Wednesday to arrest Johnson, who had outstanding felony no bond warrants. People in the area allegedly told police they saw Johnson and a woman run into the woods as police arrived, the probable cause statement says.
Officers used a K9 track to find Johnson near a field behind the trailer park in the area.
He allegedly ran away from police through a field before eventually surrendering at the bottom of the field, according to the probable cause statement. Police also found a backpack, believed to have belonged to Johnson with methamphetamine inside of it.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office had been searching for Johnson after he allegedly led law enforcement on a chase involving a stolen vehicle on Saturday.
The vehicle also contained a stolen gun, the sheriff's office said.
The passenger, Orion Kenneth Mullins, 31, was arrested in a home in Fulton on Sunday. Mullins is charged with misdemeanor second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, according to court documents. He posted bond Wednesday, according to online jail records.
Johnson appears on the Cole County Jail roster without bond.
