Director, assistant director of Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center to resign
Mar 29, 2025
RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO) — Richland County jail Director Crayman Harvey, who led the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for the past two and a half years, announced his resignation via the app LinkedIn.
In a letter posted on the app, Harvey writes, “I’m reminded that no accomplishment is
ever truly achieved alone—it’s always with the support and dedication of others. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with my team and share the news that I would be stepping down as Director of our agency. While transitions like this are customary in many industries, the moment was still deeply emotional for me. Despite any differences in opinions or approaches, I was truly moved by the appreciation expressed by my colleagues.
However, more than anything, I chose to celebrate our collective achievements. It was through the dedication, resilience, and teamwork of those around me that a difficult and often dangerous job became one I looked forward to each day. Over the past 2 years, 7 months, and 10 days, I’ve learned the true power of teamwork and unity. So, I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Thank you for everything. I look forward to embracing my next challenge and new opportunities starting April 14th!”
He also addressed his Alvin S. Glenn “family,” saying in part, “Words cannot fully capture my appreciation for each of you. You are, without question, among the most dedicated, resilient, and hardworking correctional professionals I have had the privilege to serve alongside in my 20-year career.”
According to The State, Assistant Director Jermaine Gordon has also announced he will be leaving his position in April as well.
Reasons to their departures are unknown at this time. The county will hold a nationwide search for their replacements.
